Membership Conditions
Townsville Gem & Mineral Club Inc. welcome new members and do not readily exclude individuals from joining.
All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times whilst on Club premises.
It is important to note that workshops are run by a limited number of volunteer instructors who supervise safety and provide instruction, as needed, to attendees
Additionally, some of the machinery, integral to parts of this hobby, require a certain level of perception and manual dexterity to operate as they have the potential to cause serious personal injury or death. Due to this requirement, all new membership applications are subject to final approval of the Club Management Committee whose decision will be based on the information provided in your application as well as information given by instructors. The Management Committee may, in determining its decision, place certain restrictions on a person's membership should the Committee consider certain aspects of the hobby would be unsafe.
Restrictions may include but are not limited to:
- Limitations on the type of machinery and equipment that may be used;
- A requirement that a person is to be accompanied by a competent carer to fully supervise that person during workshop sessions;
- If a carer is required, that person must become a member of the Club so as to satisfy Public Liability Insurance requirements;
Notification of the Management Committee's decision will be given in writing.
